My Personal Journey Behind the Brand
Starting Virgova wasn’t a snap decision but a process fueled by time, challenges, and a deep desire to build something meaningful out of my talents and passions.
The Moment It Clicked
My journey into social media marketing began after college when I had my second baby. The thought of putting him into daycare didn’t sit well with me, not just because it was expensive, but also because I was breastfeeding and didn’t want to be apart from him. So, I turned to something I loved—crafting and creating.
I started a small business making custom Pacific Island moccasins with unique island designs. I sold them at a local market and created a Facebook group to connect with other Pacific Island moms. This was my first taste of using social media to grow a business.
Though I eventually stepped away from that business to focus on my career, the pull of social media marketing never left me. When my husband joined the Coast Guard, and we moved every few years, I realized I needed to start a business instead of chasing dead-end careers. That’s when I went all into social media marketing, blending my creative passion for storytelling with my background in business and finance.
The Journey to Marketing
It wasn’t until I earned my Master’s in Business Administration that I truly understood how much I loved the balance between creativity and analytics. Combining strategic thinking with creative content was a powerful way for businesses to connect with their audience.
Marketing has always been something I enjoyed, especially during my undergraduate years. The more I learned, the more I realized that this was my sweet spot, a place where I could bring brands to life while keeping an eye on the numbers to ensure growth.
So, I took the plunge into social media marketing, using my skills to create engaging content, tell brand stories, and measure the impact. It was the perfect intersection of creativity and business strategy and felt like the perfect fit.
Taking the Leap
When I started Virgova, I didn’t have it all figured out. I didn’t even have a name at first. The whole process was overwhelming and scary, but I knew I had to make it work—especially as a military spouse constantly on the move. Flexibility became key. I needed to build something that could grow no matter where life took us.
Deciding to go all-in with Virgova was a turning point. It meant leaving behind part-time jobs and putting my complete trust in the business. It was a leap of faith, but I knew it was the right decision. I wanted to create something that would not only provide for my family but also help other businesses thrive through the power of social media.
Family Support
The role my family played in Virgova’s growth has been vital. My husband, especially, has been my rock. He’s supported me through late nights, challenging moments, and all the small wins along the way. What’s been even more rewarding is seeing my family, inspired by the business I’ve built, start to chase their dreams and passions.
Our clients have been the fuel that keeps Virgova going. Reaching the point where we were fully booked and couldn’t take on more clients felt like a huge milestone. It was a moment of validation, confirming that everything we had worked for was worth it.
What’s Next
The most fulfilling part of Virgova is building something from the ground up while earning income and helping others. The ultimate reward is watching businesses grow and succeed thanks to our work. It’s truly a win-win situation.
Virgova is more than just a business to me—it reflects who I am and what I stand for: authenticity, creativity, and a genuine desire to help small businesses succeed. And we’re just getting started.
